About this deal

The Brewista Smart coffee scales are suitable for both the beginner and the professional user. It is a smart scale which has been redesigned to meets the need of the coffee users. It’s more water-resistant than the previous model with its sealed body and its silicone platform pad. There are also a couple of little details that are pretty cool, like the timer starts automatically when you start to brew, plus you can adjust when the scales turn off when idle (something that does occasionally happen with some scales - which is super annoying halfway through a brew). Slightly larger than the Arc, the bright, angled display of the Incline makes easier reading of time and weight. The removable, heat-proof rubber mat is a welcome addition as it can be lifted and replaced for cleaning very easily. For example, with espresso as a general rule, you should be looking at around 20 grams of ground coffee to produce 40 grams of double espresso in your cup.

Beyond the standard tare/timer function you’d expect from a set of coffee scales, the Arc features auto-tare and auto-timer functions. What does this mean? It means that you can place your extraction vessel on the scales, which then auto-tare to zero grams, then when your shot starts extracting, the weight change is registered and the timer will start. After the extraction finishes, the timer stops and the final yield flashes, beeps, and stays on the display after you take the vessel; super handy for dialling in a few shots. It’s a multi-purpose scale designed to suit the needs of the coffee brewers and, therefore, gets a fantastic coffee cup every single time. Japan-based Felicita is a specialist producer of high-end coffee equipment, mainly scales although they also make a temp control kettle. They offer three scales, this one (Parallel), Arc & Incline. Parallel & Incline were designed with manual brew methods in mind, while Arc is an espresso specialist scale. The good stuff. They're just really, really convenient to use. They hold their charge very well so you don't need to charge them often, they turn on almost instantly, they're precise, they're responsive, the auto-timer function is great if you need that, and I find the size and shape of them to be really good to use especially when it comes to espresso.

Features

The Felicita Parallel waterproof scales is one the largest scales, parallel, having its smooth appearance, hold up to a total capacity of 2kg alongside precision towards 0.1g. Having said this, Baristas will guarantee that the coffee is consistent all the time. This Parallel’s features do also have auto-tare, an auto-start alongside a stop time. All of this can be done by simply with a touch display to assemble the coffee brewing ritual much simpler. They're a good few cm deeper than the Timemore, 1cm narrower, and just a few mm taller. The good stuff. The Felicta Incline Scale has been manufactured for coffee connoisseurs. This Incline Scale is suitable on majority drip trays for espresso alongside it is ideal for all pour overs. The Incline Scale, having this super fast response time, this measures both time & weight. It is also water resistant & durable as the Arc scales. This Incline comes along with a removable heat resistant rubber mat where this ensures weighing in portafilters simple. Also, the Incline Scale has a customisable smart auto-off functionality. Designed for high-volume bar service, the Felicita Incline Coffee Scale can double as both espresso and pour over coffee scale. Its compact size allows it to fit comfortably on an espresso machine drip tray, or on the brew bar. The more accurate you can be, the better your coffee will taste so however you choose to make your coffee, using dedicated coffee scales will give you an all-round better experience.

Price – it's one of the more expensive coffee scales. It's not the most expensive by any means, but it's probably outside of what most of us would be comfortable spending on coffee scales. Doesn't have an auto timer function, which is only a bad thing if this is a function you're looking for in a set of brew scales. The Felicita ARC scales are possibly the ultimate and only scale you’ll ever need for taking coffee brewing seriously at home. That makes a difference to the extraction and flavour so you’ll never get the consistency you need to get top quality coffee every time.

I also like how simple they are, they're cool looking scales but they're incredibly simple to use – and I'm a fan of the auto timer function. Although the sensitivity is reportedly 0.1g, as with the coffee gator scales there are a significant number of users saying that they don't actually appear to be as sensitive as they're supposed to be. The app looks good, for pourover – it gives you a visual to guide you with the pour, and clever looking data analysis. The bad stuff. But if you want to weigh more precisely, in increments of 0.1 of a gram and you feel as though a built-in timer will help you measure how long it takes for your coffee to be delivered into your cup then dedicated coffee scales will definitely make a difference to the quality of coffee you produce. If you are interested in brewing coffee at home, then you need to invest in proper coffee scales, no matter how skilled you are. Most of the people have been using a spoon or scoop to measure out the grams needed.
