About this deal

So, I’m always looking for ways to make crafting an enjoyable experience and creating fond memory for all of us. We pay our heartfelt respect to the Traditional Owners of Country and pay respect to the living cultures of the First Peoples. Either way, we’re sure Santa will be impressed with your creativity and have no problem finding the perfect place to put all your presents. This is a great craft to do with kids because it’s so easy and they can really let their imaginations run wild.

And if you want to get really creative, you could even cut out different shaped trees and put them all together to make a Paper Plate Forest!

This means that I receive a small commission should you make a purchase via one of these links, at no additional cost to you.

With your box cutter, carefully slice down the pencil line, being sure to only pierce one side of the cardboard (leave the side that’s face-down intact). If you’re using very thin cardboard, you can probably skip this step and just crease your trees down the middle so that they can fold in half. Fill the holidays with festive cheer with these easy DIY cardboard Christmas tree crafts that you can make alone, or better yet, with family and friends! If you’re using a saw, it’s really easy to layer 3 pieces of cardboard and cut them all out at the same time. This simple tabletop design is great for adding a touch of festiveness to plain kitchen counters and dining tables. This is another fun DIY Christmas tree craft that’s perfect for kids (or adults who are young at heart). Big thanks to artist and designer Courtney Wotherspoon for sharing this wonderful craft and tradition! Or maybe your onto that long Christmas gift list and should consider some DIY heartfelt Christmas gifts.

So long as you have some left over boxes it should be able to blend in well with regular Christmas tree decor. We’ve updated the instructions to our infamous Makedo Christmas Tree - and this time around, we’re also working on a mini table-top version! Take that first layer of cardboard, place it on the fabric, and offset it a little bit because we need to tuck it in. Plus, it only took cardboard, paper and pencil/ pen, straight edge, box cutter or x-acto knife, scissors, flour and water to make wheatpaste (or glue), brush for spreading glue, and binder clips. This post was transcribed by a member of the Hometalk editorial team from the original HometalkTV episode.

Keep in mind that to create one standing tree, you'll need three flat cardboard trees of the exact same size. And when you’re done, you’ll have a unique and one-of-a-kind Christmas tree that everyone will love!
