About this deal

It would be great,” Su says, when the sad day arrives, for her boyfriend to arrange something similar. Friends and family found our relationship to be a bit strange, but it was only because they couldn’t appreciate what it was like for me to FINALLY have a fellow book lover in the house. On May 26th, 2009, the Crappy Taxidermy [3] Tumblr blog was launched, which highlights humorous photos of taxidermied animals. Visit her apartment today and you’ll see a two-headed rabbit, a squirrel holding a gun, a fox that is itself wearing a fox stole and, yes, a mounted deer head.

The Twitter account was started by a guy in the UK named Nish, who requested to only be identified by a one-word name.com/, which boasts that it is "the internet's largest image depository of crappy and awesome taxidermy. On April 3rd, the publishing company Cassell Illustrated announced in a press release [12] that a book based on the Crappy Taxidermy Tumblr blog was scheduled for release in Autumn 2014.

Crappy Taxidermy is a single topic blog that highlights photographs of bizarre-looking or poorly stuffed animal skins.I’ve always thought that becoming worm food is the worst thing that could happen to my body after I die – but I’ve discovered that if I were to fall into a taxidermist’s hands the fate would be much worse. I was very excited to get an ARC of the book, but when I opened it I was disappointed - where was the dry, rib-cracking commentary that makes the photos entertaining in the first place? I didn't like the "improving on nature" and "anthropomorphic" chapters at all, some images made me feel ashamed of belonging to the same species as the people who created those "funny" freakshows. Of course, despite Su’s carefree attitude toward Nish’s Twitter feed, it might ultimately come to blows when the publishers get involved with marketing the book.

this book is a collection of pictures of wonky and sad taxidermy she has been collecting for her blog http://crappytaxidermy. Probably not everyone's cuppa but those who liked Cake Wrecks: When Professional Cakes Go Hilariously Wrong, Awkward Family Photos etc most likely will like this book too. I think the pictures are really funny, but it's kind of a morbid sense of "funny" that won't appeal to everyone. Mostly pictures, all of them hilarious, it's the kind of book you'd open up and show everyone so you could have a good laugh. It's like trying to read F U Penguin without the snarky insults - just pictures with little to no meaning nor intrigue.

The reason for the name change, Su explained, is that her book is actually being published by a British publishing house, and that British people don’t use the word “crappy. Crap Taxidermy makes the promise of an entertaining and comedic read concerning distasteful and terribly positioned taxidermist “art”. In the back is a DIY on how to do your own taxidermy and I thought that section was pretty gross and skimmed over it.
