About this deal

The freezer can be defrosted using a hairdryer. When used in the freezer, it instantly heats the frost. It is recommended that all water in the freezer be thoroughly cleaned. During this process, always make sure to take all necessary precautions and to be patient. Because a hairdryer produces continuous hot air, the majority of people will have no trouble adjusting their settings within a few minutes. Inside a freezer, the frost that forms is caused by something. It could also mean that the temperature is too low or the condenser is not working properly. The weather is finally starting to warm up, but that also means that your pipes may start to freeze. If you find that your pipes have frozen, don’t panic! There are several ways to thaw them out, including using a hair dryer. The safest way to defrost a freezer is to simply switch it off and leave it with the door open, letting nature take its cause, but this can take from three to 24 hours. A low water flow will result in the ice maker not being able to get cubes out of the ice maker mold, eventually causing buildup and freezing. Fixing Frozen Water Lines Start by pointing the hair dryer at the frozen section of the pipe and turning it on to the highest setting. Keep the hair dryer in this spot for about five minutes. After five minutes, move the hair dryer to a different spot and keep it there for another five minutes. Repeat this process until the pipe has thawed.

Apply heat until full water pressure is restored. If you are unable to locate the frozen area, if the frozen area is not accessible, or if you can not thaw the pipe, call a licensed plumber. Begin drying your hair by holding the hairdryer at a distance of about 6 inches from your head, and move it slowly and evenly over your hair. Drain water from swimming pool and water sprinkler supply lines following manufacturer's or installer's directions. Do not put antifreeze in these lines unless directed. Antifreeze is environmentally harmful, and is dangerous to humans, pets, wildlife, and landscaping.

Defrosting Process

As earlier mentioned, there’s nothing too complicated about defrosting a frozen condensate pipe. Still, it is important to know how to do it safely to avoid further damage. The ice on the evaporator coils will thaw. In time. This ‘In time’ is usually the problem here. Obviously, we know that the ice will melt at room temperature. However, during hot summer days, we do need air conditioning every day. Before doing any repairs, I recommend you unplug your refrigerator/ice maker entirely unless specified otherwise. Let’s get started. Ice Tray Freezing Up Plug in the hairdryer and set it to the desired heat and speed settings. If you’re using a diffuser attachment, attach it to the hairdryer now.

Turn off water. The first step in almost any water-related plumbing repair is to turn off water to the area you’re working on. Near your water meter is a main shut-off valve for the entire house. Turn it horizontal to the pipe and it will shut off water to your house.

Unfreeze the AC unit naturally. This just involves doing nothing. In a day or so, the ice on the evaporator coils will thaw itself. But we usually don’t want to wait for a whole day or even more before we can start using an air conditioner again. With a hair dryer, you can defrost your AC unit in about 10 or 20 minutes (depending on the size of the coils and the amount of ice accumulation). How Not To Unfreeze AC Unit (#4 Method)

At the elbows: Water usually collects at the elbows or joints of a pipe, so you can expect the condensate pipe to freeze at its joints. From what I’ve seen over the years, a frozen filter can stop or slow the water flow to an ice maker, and a filter that’s dirty or clogged will slow down or negatively affect the amount and quality of ice that the ice maker will produce. Remove, drain, and store hoses used outdoors. Close inside valves supplying outdoor hose bibs. Open the outside hose bibs to allow water to drain. Keep the outside valve open so that any water remaining in the pipe can expand without causing the pipe to break. When temperatures drop below freezing, water pipes can freeze and burst. If you’re not sure whether or not to turn off your water, it’s best to err on the side of caution and do so. Turning off your water can help protect your pipes from bursting and causing water damage in your home.We all know that water and electricity are a dangerous mix. Water itself isn’t the issue – it’s the impurities in the water, such as trace amounts of minerals and dust, which will conduct electricity. Before the onset of cold weather, protect your pipes from freezing by following these recommendations: If you’re not sure where the frozen section of the pipe is, you can use a heat lamp or a space heater to help you find it. Just be careful not to overheat the pipe or you could cause it to burst.
